The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management will be held from
August 3-7 in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference theme,"The Informal
Economy", calls for businesses, managers and scholars from different countries to innovatively
use our concepts and theories to qualitatively and quantitatively examine a rich and yet-to-be-fully defined set of organization and management questions that are embedded within the informal economy.
The Academy of Management Africa Conference will bring Africa’s unique capabilities and needs to the attention of the world’s organization and management scholars and at the same time, provide an opportunity for interested colleagues to collaborate and work on the many interesting theoretical and practical problems presented in Africa.
Much of the time together will be spent exploring and experiencing many of the region’s challenges first hand. Conference participants will spend one and half days of the four day conference "in the field" directly experiencing South Africa and the phenomena that interest them. Four conference themes will orient that exploration.
This fall, the Academy of Management will welcome four new members to its Board of Governors. Congratulations to the following new officers for the 2012-2013 term:
Debra Shapiro (University of Maryland), vice president-elect & program chair-elect
Gayle Baugh (University of West Florida), representative at large
Ann Buchholtz (Rutgers University), representative at large
Mary Waller (York University), representative at large
